3 dimensional canvas assemblage.

"I wanted to create an unusual and sculptural piece of wall art that was 3-Dimensional (bas relief). It was created out of a geometrical shape (circle) cut into angular pieces and reassembled back into the original form. Eah piece is turned into it's own form; some pieces are 3-D & other pieces are flat. Each part is turned into it' own form by building a structure out of materials that are thick/sturdy with struts added for support. Canvas is then stretched over this structure & wrapped over the sides. I deal, in most of my artwork, with contrasting elements using the following: smooth to rough; white to brightly colored; curves to straight or angular shapes; 3-D to flat, which creates unique shades & shadows which change as the light changes throughout the day, adding a dramatic interest to each painting. The paintings are designed to be more sculptural than representational. They are designed to stimulate one's senses and offer a different approach to paintings as we know them."
