such stuff as dreams are made of

Sold to private collector in December 2012.
For some reason, the Balinese doll models for this piece reminded me of Prospero's speech paraphrased: "Our revels now are ended. . These our actors . . .were all spirits, and are melted into air, into thin air . . .We are such stuff as dreams are made on; and our little life is rounded with a sleep."
This piece started with a drawing of several Balinese dolls. The front figures seem to be going somewhere (into thin air?) and the middle figure ponders, somewhat as an insubstantial spirit. Mystery surrounds all the figures as in a dream. The faces mask their intentions. I used layers of texture (acrylic medium) to make the background recede. The designs and shapes on the figures represent spirits of the "insubstantial pageant." The dreamlike illusion becomes the real world or is it just a fantasy?
This piece was on display at ArtsNatchez Gallery, Natchez, MS, part of my Dreamscape Series, featured December 2011.
2.5" double matted, ornate wooden gold washed frame.
