Pat Isaacs Littleton, Colorado - United States _____________________________ WEBSITE: WWW.PATISAACSART.COM | ARTIST STATEMENT I live in a high touch world of sensory awareness and tactile expression. Texture in my abstract collage paintings is built with layers of paint, fiber and paper. As each layer dries my hand strokes the canvas giving me somatic feedback for the next layer. Eventually a painting feels complete through touch and observation. Gallery visitors are often tempted to run their hand over my art to connect with a sensual world of individual interpretation.
My color palette and composition are inspired by the cyclical patterns of nature. Chinese New Year influences my choice of vibrant reds that symbolize good fortune and prosperity. A series of white paintings was born during snowstorms. Inspiration also flows from the old books, prints, fiber, metal, and other wrappings of daily life I collect. These elements are incorporated onto the surface of my collage paintings, intriguing in shape and barely veiled by paint.
