Broomfield, Colorado - United States

As an artist Im interested in texture and creating a sense of depth and movement in my work. My current series embodies a new chapter in my life and I call it "Expansiveness". It is a time of growth and rebirth. These paintings are abstract and layered with texture and color that is added and subtracted along the way. I add textural elements, such as plaster, paper or cardboard work in layers with acrylic or oil paint, often scratching back into them to reveal hints of previous layers.

They are a journey of self a journey to the surface. My process feels like a dance a dialog with the painting. I like when early layers still show through in places like a scar or a wrinkle... like life, it becomes a reminder of the past and where we came from in our journey.

Leslie grew up in Merritt Island, Florida and moved to Colorado to pursue a career in infographics in the news industry at The Denver Post. She was later hired to work for several software companies, including Unidata, Ardent and Informix Software and went on to form her own graphic design firm, Connexion Creative. Yet throughout her graphic design career, she continued to draw and paint and has just recently begun to show her work, which has been well received.
