Donna Bruni Cox
Minneapolis, MN - United States

"Color, energy, emotion and movement are the foundation of my visual style and intuitive approach to painting. I love the fluid materiality of oil paint and the process of transforming two-dimensional surfaces into abstract, layered compositions, through interaction of color, form and line."

Minneapolis based painter, Donna Bruni, creates oil paintings that reflect the poetry of places visited, remembered or imagined, suspended within layered surfaces of color. Her recent New City series marks a return to bold and colorful compositions that explore shifting shapes, light and form of urban landscape views from her sixth floor studio windows.

Donna Bruni grew up in Yardley, Pennsylvania. She studied art and design at Endicott College in Beverly, MA and the School of Visual Arts in New York, and began a career in the arts as a freelance graphic designer in New York. She later received her B.A. from the University of Minnesota, where she studied painting and cross-cultural healing practices. In 2011, Bruni established Studio 600 in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District to promote creative collaboration through studio art experience. She has participated in many solo and group exhibitions. Her paintings were selected for inclusion in Art on the Plains Biennial Exhibition, Plains Art Museum, Fargo, ND (2012) and appeared in Studio Visit magazine: volume 17, an international juried selection of visual artists and American Art Collector (2013). Her work is held in public and private collections throughout the United States.
