Weddings at Artwork Network: Tiffany & Jermiah

We were so honored Tiffany & Jermiah chose the Artwork Network Gallery & Event Center as their reception venue.  It was an incredible evening full of pretty pinks and blues and candlelight put together by Organically You Events, and then perfectly captured by photographers Gino Siller and Kara Pearson.  A Denver wedding in the trendy Art District on Santa Fe can play “urban cool”,  “modern” or “romantic”, and this special event captured all sides.  Congrats again to the lovely couple!

Trend: Hanging Art on Bookshelves

It was cropping up everywhere a few years ago, and now I’m seeing it again: pretty framed prints hung in front of bookshelves. I am definitely a book hoarder myself, and I love the floor-to-ceiling bookcases in my office, but they do take up precious wall space to hang my ever-growing collection. I’m inclined to like this inventive idea of combining these two loves, if I can make it seem a bit more practical. I would hate to be constantly reaching around frames – perhaps if the art was hiding infrequently used books? Or maybe this is a very clever way of hiding away stereo equipment or your combination safe? What do you think – do you love it or hate it?

Cool Tools: Pinterest

Are you on the Pinterest bandwagon?  Pinterest is a great new networking tool taking the internet by storm.  It allows you to organize and share your favorite images on the web.  It’s particularly great for things like planning weddings and creating “mood boards” for interior design projects.

Tip: We love to “Pin” our favorite artwork.  Whether on the Artwork Network site, or from across the web, it’s a great way to keep all your favorites in one place.  You don’t have to save any links or download any images – Pinterest can keep track of all the art you want to buy.  With just one click, you’re back to the original place you found the artwork.  Pretty cool, huh?

Try it out, and look for Artwork Network on Pinterest, too!

Trend: Purple

Lots of designers are crushing over pretty purples, and we’ve hunted up a few art pieces to match.  Jeanine Hays over at HGTV is smitten with “shades from grape to a warm gray-purple mix”.  Be sure and browse her collection of gorgeous interiors – and let us know what color YOU’RE looking for!

Trend: Art Shelf

The new “art shelf” trend can keep your walls hole free, get treasured pieces above little hands, and unify a disjointed collection.  What’s not to love?  Check out these examples from the web, including a DIY tutorial from HGTV on how to create your own “art shelf”.  Now go forth and shelve things!

Jessica’s Friday Favorite

"Red Sight" by Silvana Ravena

"Red Sight" by Silvana Ravena

If I could live inside a piece of art, it would be Silvana Ravena’s “Red Sight”.  I want to wander along its lines, be warmed by the vivid reds and warm browns, and chase hints of a bursting blue around each corner.  This is the kind of piece that begs to be explored with fingertips, and at 72″ x 42″, there is a lot of space to explore.  Go ahead, be the talk of the town with your gloriously enviable new art — yours for $3,300.

Find it here.

Trend: Hiding the TV with Art

It’s a designer’s golden rule never to have the TV be the focal point in a room, but today’s big glossy wide screens will draw the eye, regardless of where you put them.  A solution?  Hide the TV behind artwork.  Seen in the move the Thomas Crowne Affair ages ago, this is a trend that still keeps popping up everywhere, and people either love it or hate it.  Personally, I’ve never had any trouble embracing the look of technology, but then again, my modern tastes allow for it.  How about you?

Want to try it out for yourself?   There’s a lot of expensive mechanisms for remote control operated hinges, but I’m just as impressed with this quick DIY tutorial from the blog “Johns Journal”, where savvy Maria attaches an L bracket to the back of her art for some tv-hiding magic.
